Beat the Summer Heat with Korean Ice Cream Bars
One of the neat things I appreciate about my new neighborhood is the sheer variety of food that’s literally a few steps away from my door, from upscale delicatessens to fast-food restaurants to greasy spoons and everything in between.
Now, a nearby Korean grocery is selling what must be this summer’s unheralded treat: Korean ice cream bars.
These frozen delights come in a variety of flavors, from fruits like melon and apple-strawberry, to walnut [With real walnut slivers too - Ed.] and green tea, to chocolate caramel. Ice cream cones are also sold in vanilla, chocolate, and pistachio. I was able to identify one brand – Lotte – but failed to ID the rest.
I hate to say this but these Korean products are superior to the same items manufactured by Filipino companies. They have a creamier texture, are very flavorful, and don’t taste like they have been fluffed too much with air or happen to be made up more of water than with milk.
Korean popsicles are well-regarded in the West: browse these links from Boing Boing, of all places.
Prices for these Korean ice cream bars average at about PHP 30 a piece, slightly more expensive than the recommended price in Korean won – anywhere from KRW 500 to KRW 700 – printed on each individual wrapper. They should be available at most Korean groceries in Metro Manila.

where is this available? we’re also looking for korean groceries within the fort or makati area sana. we wanna buy banana/ strawberry milk and Pepero!!
I am sorry but I am not that too familiar with the Korean groceries in the areas you mentioned. Off the top of my head why don’t you try Makati Avenue or Pasong Tamo?
If you don’t mind me asking why do you prefer Pepero to Pocky?
There is a korean grocery almost infront of beers paradise in makati near burgos and along p&p tattoo. It is open until 2am. I buy my favorite korean ice cream there, which is almond.
Binggrae ice cream bars! My absolute favorite is the strawberry-flavored yoghurt bar.
