I visited an appliance store about a couple of weeks ago and saw another flat screen TV offer that perked up my interest and convince diehards like myself to ditch the tube-type TVs I now own for a spiffy, svelte TV set: a 32-inch Sanyo LCD TV [Model code: LCD32K30 - Ed.].

Like the Panasonic Viera THL32C10X LCD TV I blogged about a couple of months ago, this Sanyo LCD TV has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels, in other words a 720p model. Unlike the Panasonic, however, this Sanyo model costs about PHP 21,995 net of discount, which is slightly more expensive than the former.

Take note, however, that the specific offer may vary from store to store.

This Sanyo LCD TV accepts four video interfaces: HDMI , S-Video, component video, and composite video, and the connectors at the back of this set bear witness to this capacity. You can find three HDMI connectors [As far as I can tell, two are for input and one is for output - Ed.], two component video inputs, one composite video input, and one S-Video input.

I might as well add that according to the specs for this TV that I found online, this Sanyo LCD TV has an analog tuner that accepts NTSC signals, as well as a digital tuner that takes in ATSC signals. This digital TV tuner may very well work in North America but is unlikely to do so in the Philippines. Philippine TV stations and cable operators seem to have arrived at a consensus to use the open DVB standard in the country for both over-the-air and cable TV broadcasts. To date, however, only the DVB standards for cable TV and mobile phones have been implemented.
