Happy New Year!
Well. New Year’s midnight wasn’t as noisy or smoky as in the past. Whether people have finally gotten it into their heads that detonating hand-held firecrackers is inherently dangerous – made even more so by the dried animal dung used as a filler in these pyrotechnics – or the things have gotten so prohibitively expensive I wouldn’t know, but it’s a good thing nonetheless.
[It seems that the lesson hasn't gotten through; authorities say that firecracker injuries were up 4% over last year - Ed.]
For Catholics around the world, today is a holy day of obligation, it being The Solemnity of the Holy Mother of God.
Anyway, here’s to a safe and prosperous Happy New Year in whatever corner of the world you’re in, and in whatever business too. Especially to all my comrades in the retail trade – we all need it.
To Bayi, Manolo, Gigi, Batjay, Connie, Marvin, Jove, Ajay, Yuga, Punzi, Wysgal, The J Spotter, Ca t, Rolly, Prem, Jobert, Mari, Lilix, Rain, Karla, Kim, Mark, Marc, Dean, Ari, AnP, missP, Retz, Micketymoc, Sunny, Piercing Pens, X-P, Writing Thirty, Ricky, Go Figure; the fine folks at TXTpower, Litratista, Uniffors, and Pinoy Tech Blog; to all the blogs on my RSS feed, and to everyone else I may have missed: a toast to you from Mrs. Unlawyer and I to your success and our best holiday wishes.
Don’t forget – Simon sez, set your clocks a second later this year!
As for myself, I’ll be off today to learn how to play… Battle B-Daman!
